Michael Kupferman Named CEO Of Penn State Health

President Neeli Bendapudi and the Penn State Health Board of Directors appointed Dr. Michael Kupferman as the new CEO of Penn State Health, the university’s $4.2 billion healthcare system.
Dr. Kupferman brings years of experience to Penn State through his work as a clinician and an innovator in the fields of integrated health systems and community healthcare.
“I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Michael Kupferman to lead Penn State Health. Michael is an innovative and accomplished academic physician leader who is deeply aligned with our health system’s tripartite mission to train the next generation of health care providers, conduct life-changing health science research, and provide patient care of the highest quality,” President Bendapudi said in a release.
His previous experience includes his roles as president of the Banner University Medicine Division, senior vice president of clinical and academic network development at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, as well as a trained head and neck cancer surgeon and researcher.
Kupferman will also hold a faculty position in the Penn State College of Medicine, teaching as a professor of otolaryngology in addition to his administrative work.

With Dr. Kupferman at the helm of Penn State Health, he aims to elevate the patient experience, advance medical research and innovations, and improve health systems across the entire university and the commonwealth.
