Benny Leone’s Opens In Downtown State College

A new pizza place is offering an oversized take on New York-style pizza, featuring signature 28-inch pies and 14-inch pizza slices.

Benny Leone’s opened earlier this month at 109 S. Fraser St., taking over K2 Roots’ old location in downtown State College.

The Virginia-based restaurant was founded in 2011 and is well-known for its ridiculously large pizzas. Each whole pie is 28 inches, with single slices being 14 inches. The shop offers several toppings such as pepperoni, Italian sausage, and garlic mushrooms. There are also rotating specialty toppings available.

Single slices of pizza range from $6 to $7, depending on toppings, with whole pizzas ranging from $38 to $48.

In addition, Benny Leone’s offers dipping sauces such as ranch, garlic, marinara, and hot honey for an additional charge, as well as various drinks, chips, and desserts.

Each Benny’s location takes on a special name to fit each area they occupy. For State College, “Leone” is Italian for “lion,” giving ode to Penn State’s mascot.

The restaurant includes barstools, an indoor booth, and outdoor tables for folks to sit and enjoy their meals at the location.

Benny Leone’s will be open 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, making it a perfect place for the late-night crowd.
