Lady Lions Hire Bob Dunn As Assistant Coach

Penn State women’s basketball has hired former Cleveland State assistant coach Bob Dunn to be an assistant coach under head coach Carolyn Kieger, the team announced Thursday.
This addition means that Kieger’s coaching staff is officially complete after the Lady Lions hired Shenise Johnson earlier in June to be one of Kieger’s assistant coaches.
While studying at Dayton, Dunn served as the men’s basketball team manager, graduate assistant, and video coordinator. He spent two seasons as the video coordinator for Kentucky’s women’s basketball team after earning his degrees at Dayton.
After that, Dunn got his first coaching opportunity at Wagner College in 2014 as an assistant coach, where he helped develop Jasmine Nwajei to finish the 2014-15 regular season as the NCAA leading scorer. He only spent one year there before spending six seasons as an assistant coach and international recruiter at George Mason.
Dunn became an assistant coach for Cleveland State in 2021, where he helped guide the team to two strong seasons, finishing with a 53-14 record throughout his time as an assistant, including winning its third Horizon League Championship in 2023.
He then moved to Miami as an assistant coach, spending only one season there as the team finished with a 19-12 record and an ACC Tournament Quarterfinal appearance.
Now, he, along with the rest of Kieger’s coaching staff, will try to help a Lady Lions team that struggled last season as it finished 10-19 and won only one game in Big Ten play.
