Sandy Barbour Named Utah State Interim Athletic Director

Penn State’s previous athletic director is coming out of retirement.

Utah State President Alan Smith announced former Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour as the university’s interim athletic director on Friday.

Barbour officially starts her new role on July 21, with a search for a new athletic director expected to begin in August for the Aggies.

Barbour was the head of Penn State Athletics from 2014 to 2022, before she decided to retire from her position. Current athletic director Pat Kraft succeeded Barbour at the helm of the Nittany Lions’ 31 varsity sports.
