[Photo Story] Penn State vs. FIU

Another successful Saturday in Beaver Stadium is in the books!

FIU made the trek up from the 305 to Beaver Stadium to take on Penn State. Over 103,000 fans attended to watch the Nittany Lions defeat the Panthers in a 34-0 victory.

With no shortage of action, our photographers were on the field capturing it all as Penn State added another win in front of a home crowd.

The team arrived at Beaver Stadium in style with the Blue Band leading the way.

The Nittany Lions hit the field for warmups before the game to get their blood flowing.

After a successful flip by drum major Ellie Sheehan and some help from the Nittany Lion to get the crowd hyped, Penn State took to the field.

Penn State’s defense had the spotlight first, keeping the Panthers in check on their first possession of the game.

After a few back-and-forths on turnover on downs, the Nittany Lions made it into the red zone with Khalil Dinkins in the end zone for the opening touchdown.

On the Panthers’ next possession, FIU found themselves in another 4th-and-short situation. After their second timeout of the quarter, the Panthers were able to pick up the first down, but were quickly shut down by Penn State defensive lineman Alonzo Ford Jr.’s pick.

After a couple of rough plays by both the Panthers and Nittany Lions, Ryan Barker made a 41-yard field goal to send Penn State up 10-0 in the second quarter.

The Nittany Lions made their way back onto the field after halftime in an intimidating fashion.

Well into the third quarter, after Barker made another field goal at 34 yards, Allar was able to shoot a 42-yard deep ball to Devonte Ross. Ross, in the end zone, scored his first career Penn State touchdown, and the first of the half, despite heavy coverage.

Penn State’s defense kept FIU’s offense at bay throughout the rest of the half, while the Nittany Lions’ offense went back and forth.

The Nittany Lions were able to regain possession with a little under four minutes remaining in the final quarter. Allen was able to put the cherry on top for Penn State with a 67-yard touchdown to finish off the game.

In the end, Penn State ended with another victory under its belt.

Penn State will face off against Villanova at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, at Beaver Stadium. Those wanting to catch the game can watch on FBS 1.
