Wawa Officially Confirms Expansion Into State College

Wawa is officially coming to State College, folks!

For years, students and residents in the area have hoped for a Wawa to open in the county. State College is historically Sheetz territory, and the current closest Wawa is over 50 miles away.

On September 9, Wawa representatives officially confirmed 10 new stores to open in Centre County and surrounding areas over the next few years.

Out of those 10 locations, multiple of them will be directly in State College. The current planned locations include stores at Route 26 and Squirrel Drive in State College and North Atherton Street and West Aaron Drive. Another store in Bellefonte at Route 150 and Eagle Point has been confirmed alongside the other seven.

The company hopes to open the doors of the first locations in 2026 and continue expanding over the next few years. The stores will bring an estimated 350 new jobs to the area and employ over 140 local contractors for construction.

Wawa currently has over 1,150 locations across the East Coast, and this expansion marks a milestone for them as they inch closer to Sheetz territory, which dominates Western Pennsylvania.
