Staff Picks: Concerts We Want To See At Bryce Jordan Center

Another year at Penn State means another slate of performers coming to the Bryce Jordan Center. From Prince and Elton John to Kanye West, the State College stadium has seen it all.
It was recently announced that Jason Aldean’s “Full Throttle Tour” will stop by Happy Valley to boost this year’s slate, with previously scheduled concerts from Parker McCollum, Riley Green, and more.
The announcement had Onward State staffers brainstorming who else we want to see perform at the Bryce Jordan Center this year.
Sylvia Prebor: Noah Kahan
I would love to see Noah Kahan perform at the BJC this year. He is at the top of my “need to see live” list. Also, with his new album coming out, he will definitely go on tour, with central Pennsylvania being a likely stop. I go abroad in the spring, but if he ends up performing at the BJC, I would 100% fly back just for the concert.
Olivia Hess: Tate McRae
Tate McRae could sell out the Bryce Jordan Center with ease if she added the venue to her tour. McRae is currently touring arenas around the same size or slightly larger than the BJC, so I think State College would be perfect.
Penn State students align with McRae’s key demographic and would show up for an artist like her, especially because of her rising popularity. She’s already set to perform in Pittsburgh in October. Why not make a stop in Happy Valley?
Michael Siroty: Jon Pardi
Ain’t no party like a Pardi party. This guy’s vibes are off the charts, and I need him to come here.
Sarah Nasif: Don Toliver
Ever since my freshman year, when I dropped half of my bank account on four different concerts at the BJC, I’ve been waiting for another epic lineup. Sophomore year, the BJC lineup fell short for me, and recently, I have felt as though the list of performers has been very country-heavy. I think the BJC should bring back a hip-hop-inspired lineup, similar to what was heavily received in my first year.
If they do, why not do it with one of my personal favorites, Don Toliver? Not only is his sound and variety of content impeccable, but he has also released several songs and even an album in recent years that have gone viral on various music and social platforms. I think Toliver can certainly get the BJC Boomin’!
Oscar Orellana: Title Fight
This will never happen (please come back, Title Fight), but one can dream. Title Fight has been one of my favorite bands of the last five years. They’re such an integral part of the rise of hardcore music in the early 2010’s and having a one-night only show in their native Pennsylvania would be a fantastic idea. If any members are reading this, please think about it. It would literally be the greatest concert-going experience of my life.
Melanie Thalhimer: The Lumineers
Imagine: Sold out BJC, fairy lights, banjo, everyone singing “Ho Hey” on a Friday night… sounds like a dream to me!
Julia Romankow: Kaytranada
With 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Louis Kevin Celestin, known as Kaytranada, is a Haitian-Canadian producer and DJ. He has been rising in popularity since 2021 due to his unique and upbeat sound.
Kaytranada has collaborated with several big names like Pharrell Williams, PinkPantheress, Kali Uchis, Childish Gambino, and more. He has performed at venues across the world and even DJ’ed at Boiler Room on multiple occasions. In my opinion, his sound would light up the BJC and make for a really fun time for students, fans, and locals.
Hannah Fuller: The Lumineers
Imagine singing along to “Ho Hey” with your best friends by your side. Good vibes all around.
Jayla Nartatez: Jonas Brothers
Back in 2019, I saw The Jonas Brothers during their “Happiness Begins Tour,” and it was one of the best concerts I have been to. The Jonas Brothers should make a return to The Bryce Jordan Center this year, especially since they are on tour right now. I love The Jonas Brothers’ music and would love to see them in concert again and hear their new music live.
Collin Ward: Sam Barber
I saw Sam Barber in the Eisenhower Auditorium in the fall of last year and had an absolute blast. He is one of the only artists I can listen to for hours on end without disliking a song. Since his last performance in Happy Valley, he has dropped multiple songs and a full album and has gone on a worldwide tour.
While he mainly stays in smaller venues, his popularity has no doubt skyrocketed in the last few months, and I think he could sell out the Bryce Jordan Center.
