Penn State Football Remains Slight Favorites Over Oregon For White Out

Get ready for a historic White Out, folks.

After crushing Villanova two weeks ago and having their first bye week, the Nittany Lions are back in action as they will open Big Ten play against the No. 6 Oregon Ducks in their annual White Out game at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 27.

This will be the highest-ranked White Out matchup in its history and a rematch of last year’s Big Ten championship game. Penn State will look to win its fifth consecutive White Out before it hits the road for the first time this season next week.

The line for the White Out opened in July, with the Nittany Lions opening as a 4.5-point favorite. Since then, the line has gone down to -3.5 points in the Nittany Lions’ favor, with the over/under listed at 51.5 points, according to DraftKings. The money line is in favor of Penn State at -175, while Oregon is a +145 underdog.

Expect this game to come down to the wire, but Oregon may cover the spread or win this game outright. The Ducks are 3-1 against the spread while the Nittany Lions have yet to cover the spread this season. Additionally, Oregon has been dominant on the road, boasting an eight-game road winning streak, dating back to last season, according to OddsShark.

Penn State extended its win streak as a favorite dating back to last season to 15 with its win over Villanova. However, this streak could come to an end, as the team has struggled against Top 10-ranked opponents during the James Franklin era. Franklin is 4-20 against AP top 10 teams, and his last win against a top 10-ranked opponent at Beaver Stadium was against Ohio State in the 2016 White Out.

As we head into week five of the 2025 season, the Nittany Lions are +700 to win the national championship, tied with Oregon at those odds, and trailing the defending national champions, Ohio State, at +550.
