Penn State Women’s Hockey Jumps To No. 6 In Recent USCHO Poll

Climbing the rankings.

Following its sweep over No. 9 St. Lawrence, Penn State women’s hockey jumped to No. 6 in the USCHO Women’s Poll from its previous No. 8 ranking. The Nittany Lions’ two-game sweep came with a 3-0 shutout win at home and a 5-2 victory in the second game. Two sophomore forwards, Nicole Hall and Grace Outwater, led Penn State’s scoring with two goals apiece in the series.

It’s the highest ever ranking in program history in the USCHO Women’s Poll.

The Nittany Lions won their third consecutive AHA championship last season and are currently the only AHA team in the USCHO Women’s Poll. The blue and white are set to begin conference play next week when they travel to the University of Delaware for a pair of games.

For their first road trip of the season, Penn State will travel to the University of Vermont and attempt to spoil the Catamounts’ season opener at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 3, at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vermont.
