Former Penn State Football Cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields Signed To Philadelphia Eagles’ Practice Squad

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday afternoon that they have signed cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields to their practice squad.

Castro-Fields played in five seasons for the Nittany Lions from 2017-2021, accumulating 53 total games. The former four-star defensive back played in 12 of 13 games in his freshman year and caught an interception. As a junior, Castro-Fields racked up 53 tackles, eight passes defended, and two interceptions. He was granted an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19 and returned for the 2021 season.

After his fifth year with Penn State, Castro-Fields was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He was waived before the season began.

Castro-Fields has made appearances with the Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers, totaling 12 games played across his career. As recently as 2024, the Eagles signed and released the former Penn Stater.
