Penn State Women’s Volleyball’s Kennedy Martin Named AVCA Player of the Week

Penn State women’s volleyball’s right-side hitter Kennedy Martin has been named the AVCA Division I Player of the Week, after also being awarded the Big Ten Player of the Week. Martin is the first to earn the AVCA award since Jess Mruzik in 2023.

The junior Florida transfer earned a .438 hitting percentage while averaging 7.36 points, 6.71 kills, 2.14 digs, and 0.71 blocks per set throughout this week’s play. Martin now leads the conference and ranks second nationally for her points per set, 5.97, and ranks fourth nationally in kills per set, 5.24.

Penn State started the weekend with a sweep over the No. 7 Wisconsin Badgers on Friday at Rec Hall. Martin recorded a .474 hitting percentage, 23 kills, eight digs, and two aces. She also continued to stand out in the match against Northwestern, finishing the game with a hitting percentage of .412, 24 kills, seven digs, and two blocks.

This week, the Nittany Lions will be on the road for two away conference matchups. Penn State will travel to Washington on Friday, October 17, before playing Oregon on Saturday, October 18.
