Penn State Women’s Volleyball Slips To No. 19 In Latest AVCA Poll

Penn State women’s volleyball comes in at No. 19 in the latest AVCA Poll. The Nittany Lions dropped one place in the rankings from last week.
Fellow Big Ten teams No. 1 Nebraska, No. 10 Purdue, No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 20 Minnesota, No. 22 USC, and No. 24 Indiana join the defending national champs in the rankings.
The Nittany Lions swept Rutgers on Friday in their annual “Dig Pink Match” at Rec Hall. Kennedy Martin and Gabrielle Nichols led the way with a combined 26 kills across three sets for the blue and white.
Following a Big Ten win at home, Penn State went to Columbus, Ohio, and took down the Buckeyes in four sets on Sunday. Martin was the star of the match once again, notching 26 kills and 21 digs in the win. The Nittany Lions dominated offensively, hitting .308 on the day, compared to Ohio State’s .151 mark.
Head coach Katie Schumacher Cawley leads her team to Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Friday, October 31, carrying a three-game winning streak in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions return home on Sunday, November 2, to face Indiana.
