Gameday Coverage: Penn State vs. No. 2 Indiana

Happy gameday, folks!

Penn State football is back at Beaver Stadium for the first time since James Franklin’s firing to take on the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers. The Nittany Lions are still without a Big Ten win in 2025 as they enter the final four weeks of the season. Will Penn State be able to shock the world and squeak out an iconic upset win?

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Penn State’s penultimate Beaver Stadium appearance of the year.

Television

Like last week against Ohio State, Penn State will play at noon on FOX. Gus Johnson will be on play-by-play, Joel Klatt will be on color commentary, and Jenny Dell will report from the sidelines.

Radio

Penn State Sports Network – Steve Jones, Jack Ham, and Brian Tripp
Local: 99.5 & 103.7 FM / 1450 AM, Sirius XM: 82

Weather

It’ll be 59° at Beaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon with a RealFeel of 58°, according to AccuWeather. Cloud cover is at 67%. Wind gusts will be up to 17 mph, and there is a 10% chance of precipitation.

Injuries

Terry Smith said that backup quarterback Jaxon Smolik is still week-to-week after suffering an injury against Iowa. Smolik was out against Ohio State.

Freshman quarterback Bekkem Kritza served as the QB2 behind Ethan Grunkemeyer in Columbus. Kritza did not practice Wednesday due to illness, and Smith said there was an illness circulating through the team. Smith did not confirm whether or not Kritza will be ready to go for the Hoosiers.

Drew Allar, Josiah Brown, Kaden Saunders, Peter Gonzalez, Tikey Hayes, Kari Jackson, Max Granville, Mason Robinson, Kaleb Artis, Jordan Mayer, Owen Wafle, Donte Nastasi, Lamont Payne Jr., Kari Jackson, Tony Rojas, Jackson Pryts, Bobby Mears, Brady O’Hara, and Liam Horan all missed action against the Buckeyes.

Series History

Penn State is 25-2 against Indiana all-time. The Nittany Lions are riding a three-game win streak after losing to the Hoosiers in the infamous Michael Penix game in 2020. Indiana’s only previous win before that was a 44-24 win in Bloomington in 2013.

It’s the first time Penn State faces a Curt Cignetti-led Indiana squad. The Nittany Lions have never lost to the Hoosiers at Beaver Stadium.

Betting Lines

The Nittany Lions are big underdogs for the second consecutive week. Indiana is favored by 14.5 points. The over/under is set at 49.5 points, according to DraftKings.
