Penn State Hoops’ Kayden Mingo Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

Penn State men’s basketball Kayden Mingo has been tabbed as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

The point guard averaged 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 5.0 steals per game in the Nittany Lions’ two wins over the past week. Mingo tied a program record with eight steals in Saturday’s win over Sacred Heart. He added 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a shootout win over Boston University last Tuesday.

The Farmingdale, New York, native is Penn State’s highest-rated recruit in program history and has been living up to his talent through the Nittany Lions’ 7-1 start to the 2025-26 season.

The blue and white are back in action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, against Campbell.
