Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 12 Roundup

Penn State football continued its win streak with a victory over Rutgers on Saturday, beating the Scarlet Knights 40-36 in SHI Stadium.

Although the Nittany Lions are headed to a bowl game in the coming weeks, let’s check in on some of the Penn Staters in the NFL.

Here is a recap of the Nittany Lions in action in Week 13. 

Micah Parsons, Green Bay Packers 

Defensive end Micah Parsons continues his stellar season with a 2.5-sack game against the Detroit Lions. This is Parsons’ fifth straight season with 12 sacks, and his efforts helped propel the Packers to a 31-24 victory. 

Joey Porter Jr., Pittsburgh Steelers

Porter Jr. racked up eight tackles, six of those being solo takedowns. The Steelers lost to the Buffalo Bills 26-7. 

Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars

Strange had three receptions for 45 yards, scoring his first touchdown of the season, hauling in a 21-yard pass from Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars beat the Tennessee Titans 25-3. 

Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts

Breakout rookie Tyler Warren had three receptions for 22 yards, including a touchdown. The Colts lost a close game to the Houston Texans 20-16. 

Chop Robinson, Miami Dolphins 

Robinson had five total tackles, including 1.5 sacks, in a 21-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints. 

Abdul Carter & Theo Johnson, New York Giants

Carter had four total tackles, including one sack. Johnson had three receptions for 29 yards in a 33-15 loss against the New England Patriots. 

Other Notable Performances:

  • Jaquon Brisker totaled six tackles for the Chicago Bears in their 24-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. 
  • Nick Scott grabbed nine tackles for the Carolina Panthers in a close 31-28 win against the Los Angeles Rams. 
  • Ji’Ayir Brown tallied five tackles for the San Francisco 49ers in a 26-8 victory over the Cleveland Browns. 
  • Austin Johnson earned his first sack of the season with the Jaguars in a 35-3 victory over the Titans. 
  • Chris Godwin Jr. of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had three receptions for 78 yards in a 20-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals. 
  • Saquon Barkley had 13 carries for 56 yards in the Eagles’ loss to the Bears.
