Social Media Reacts To Kalani Sitake Saying No To Penn State Football

Update, 9:34 p.m.

Looks like someone took the liberty to make some more changes to Pat Kraft’s Wikipedia page. Welp.

Original Story:

We are… really concerned for the future of Penn State football.

On Monday, X, formerly known as Twitter, was blowing up with Penn State fans believing the Nittany Lions had finally found their next head coach in Kalani Sitake from BYU. The tweets ramped up when On3 reported that the former Cincinnati Bengal was Penn State’s top target.

BYU fans, though, rallied behind the news, and quickly the school and boosters decided to make a push to pay Sitake enough to stay. It was believed the BYU head coach was making around $3 million a season, and Penn State offered around $11.5 million to pull him away from his alma mater.

Everyone from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Crumbl cookie got involved, but it appears BYU supporters have come up with enough money to rival Penn State’s offer. While exact numbers are not known, Pete Thamel reported Tuesday night that Sitake will remain in Provo, Utah.

As with all college football news these days, Penn State fans, players, and rivals took to X to react to the news.

Penn State linebacker Tony Rojas has been very active on X the past few days, voicing his concern for the lack of a coach in December. After the Sitake news, he took the opportunity to back interim head coach Terry Smith once again.

The majority of fans used the time to question Penn State’s Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Pat Kraft. Despite having the support of fans in the days following the firing of James Franklin, many are now worried that the coaching search has gone on for over 50 days, and signing day is this week.

BYU and neutral fans took the opportunity to make as much fun of Penn State as possible. One fan even sent a care package of Crumbl cookies to Kraft’s office after the announcement.

With options for the next Nittany Lion head coach dwindling, people are questioning who the next target should be for Kraft and Penn State. A few accounts to the time to pitch who they think the blue and white will go after. Georgia Tech’s Brent Key, Ohio State’s Brian Hartline, and Louisville’s Jeff Brohm were mentioned the most.
