LaVar Arrington Calls Out Board Of Trustees Members Jay Paterno & Anthony Lubrano

Penn State football legend LaVar Arrington went on his “2 Pros and a Cup of Joe” podcast on Friday morning to call out Board of Trustees members Jay Paterno and Anthony Lubrano amid the Nittany Lions’ search for their next head coach.
Arrington hosts the podcast alongside FOX Big Noon contributor Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox daily on Fox Sports Radio.
“There are certain people that are actually in prominent positions at the school, and their prominent names in the school’s history, that are taking delight in having the opportunity and the ability to look at our program be where it’s at, so what you can swoop in and save the day the way you want to save the day,” Arrington said on the podcast, referring to Paterno and Lubrano.
Paterno, son of former Penn State football head coach Joe Paterno, has been a BoT member since 2017 after spending 22 seasons coaching in college football.
Lubrano has been on the board since 2012, and both he and Paterno often use their position of power to attempt to restore Joe Paterno’s legacy and clear his name from the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
“I mean, when your only campaign is to do that, and clear your dad’s name and his legacy, and that’s like, become your lifelong journey, and you bring people along with that, you create a lot of dissension,” Arrington went on to say.
The face of LBU did not stop there with voicing his displeasure with the two board members.
“To think that you [Paterno], for this long, have been a thorn in the side of a community that your dad was a major part in building the culture and foundational pieces that made Penn State what it is. It’s a joke. It’s a joke,” Arrington continued.
Paterno and Lubrano have long been thorns in the side of administration and Penn State Athletics when it comes to funding and moving the football program forward.
“This program should have been able and allowed to move on, but because of the type of community that it is, and [Paterno] being a part of the school board, and him having one particular person, in Anthony Lubrano being connected to him, and him being a money guy, they’ve just been on their crusade to clear Joe and to me, the way they’ve been able to do it is methodically doing things that undermine what goes on with leadership at the school. And it has led to this. It has led to it being a hard coaching search,” Arrington said.
Arrington went on to allege that Paterno and Lubrano have leaked information throughout the coaching search in an effort to damage the process and to push their own agenda.
