Penn State Football Adds Iowa State Offensive Line Coach Ryan Clanton To Staff

Matt Campbell is bringing his luggage, folks.
Former Iowa State offensive line coach and run game coordinator Ryan Clanton is joining Campbell in his transition to Happy Valley, according to the Penn State directory.
Clanton served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Northern Iowa from 2018-2022 before joining Campbell in Ames as the Cyclones’ offensive line coach. He was added as a run-game coordinator in 2024.
Clanton’s unit led the way for 2,096 total rushing yards, which ranked 7th in the Big 12; the team’s 23 rushing touchdowns this season ranked tied for fourth, and the Cyclones averaged 4.4 yards per carry, which stood top 10 in the conference.
In 2024, the Cyclones rushed for 25 touchdowns, the fourth-most in a single season in program history. Before Clanton joined Campbell’s staff in Ames, the Cyclones averaged just 108 yards per game, a statistic that landed them dead last in the conference. Now, this season, Iowa State averages over 170 yards per game.
