Report: Penn State Football Offensive Line Coach Phil Trautwein Joins Florida

Penn State football offensive line coach Phil Trautwein is set to join Florida in the same role, per Pete Thamel. Trautwein has been with the Nittany Lions since 2020.

In his six seasons with Penn State, Trautwein helped the Nittany Lions to be second nationally for most offensive linemen selected in the NFL Draft, with seven. He was a part of the recruitment and development players, such as Olu Fashanu, Will Fries, and Caedan Wallace.

In the past eight seasons, Trautwein has overseen 39 all-conference selections. Before Happy Valley, Trautwein worked in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, for Boston College. He spent just two seasons with the Eagles.

The offensive line coach joins Florida, where he started his coaching career as a graduate assistant and where he played from 2004 to 2008. He was a BCS National Champion under Urban Meyer in 2008. Trautwein also spent four seasons bouncing around between six different NFL teams.

The decision to leave Penn State came after Nittany Lions’ new head coach Matt Campbell hired his Iowa State offensive line coach Ryan Clanton.
