Gameday Coverage: Penn State vs. Clemson

Happy Pinstripe Bowl gameday, folks!

Penn State concludes its 2025 season in Yankee Stadium against the Clemson Tigers in the 2025 Pinstripe Bowl. While both programs underachieved from their top-five preseason expectations, the two squads will duke it out in the Bronx for a chance to walk away with a trophy.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the last game of the Terry Smith era.

Television

The game will be broadcast on ABC with Dave Pasch on play-by-play, Dusty Dvoracek on color commentary, and Taylor McGregor reporting from the sidelines. The Nittany Lions last appeared on the network in 2022. Folks can also stream the game on fuboTV. Kickoff is slated for noon.

Radio

Penn State Sports Network – Steve Jones, Jack Ham, and Brian Tripp
Local: 99.5 & 103.7 FM / 1450 AM, Sirius XM: 372/84

Weather

Saturday afternoon in the Bronx will be mostly cloudy, 33° with wind gusts up to 17 mph, according to AccuWeather. There is a 21% chance of precipitation and a winter storm warning in effect until 1 p.m.

Injuries

Penn State will be without 17 players due to opt-outs, planned transfer portal entries, NFL Draft declarations, or program departures. The offensive line created the most recent surge of opt-outs after Nick Dawkins and Nolan Rucci decided not to suit up, and Vega Ioane and Drew Shelton declared for the draft.

Smith said Cooper Cousins, T.J. Shanahan, and Dominic Rulli will play key roles on the offensive line on Friday morning.

Freshman linebacker Alex Tatsch will miss the game with an undisclosed injury.

Series History

The Nittany Lions and Tigers have only met once before, with Clemson slamming Penn State 35-10 in the 1988 Florida Citrus Bowl.

Clemson’s Rodney Williams gashed the Nittany Lions for 214 yards through the air en route to winning the game’s MVP. Terry Allen ran for 105 yards and Tracy Johnson waltzed in for three scores. The Tigers racked up 499 total yards of offense. Penn State couldn’t keep up behind two red zone turnovers.

Betting Lines

The Nittany Lions are 2.5-point underdogs against the Tigers, according to DraftKings. The over/under is set at 47.5 points.
