Report: Former Penn State Football Offensive Lineman TJ Shanahan Jr. Transfers To Florida

Former Penn State offensive lineman TJ Shanahan Jr. is transferring to Florida, Hayes Fawcett announced on X on Tuesday. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Shanahan Jr. was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023 out of Austin, Texas, when he committed to Texas A&M over LSU and Georgia. He spent two seasons in College Station, making five starts and 13 appearances before entering the transfer portal.

Penn State nabbed him out of the portal prior to the 2025 season and used him as the team’s top backup interior lineman, starting four of the team’s 12 games and usually stepping in when Vega Ioane or Anthony Donkoh sat. He entered the transfer portal again after the Pinstripe Bowl.

The departure of former offensive line coach Phil Trautwein proved to be a big part of Shanahan Jr.’s decision, as the two had a close relationship. After Trautwein took over in the same role at Florida, the rising redshirt junior locked in a visit and committed shortly after.
