Former Iowa State Safety Jamison Patton Transfers To Penn State Football

Three-star transfer safety Jamison Patton is transferring to Penn State football, he announced on social media on Monday. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Patton initially signed with Iowa State out of high school as a three-star recruit out of Des Moines. He was ranked as the No. 52 athlete and No. 8 player from Iowa in the 247Sports Composite.

He was an immediate contributor for Jon Heacock’s defense at Iowa State, burning his redshirt and playing in 11 games as a true freshman. In three seasons, he had 79 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and three passes defended across 34 games.

Patton is the 17th former Iowa State player to transfer to Penn State following the hiring of Matt Campbell, as well as the second safety after Marcus Neal Jr. Penn State lost five safeties to the transfer portal, including King Mack and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter, as well as Zakee Wheatley to the NFL Draft.
