Former Penn State Football Defensive Tackle Derrick Tangelo Joining Virginia Tech As Analyst

Former Penn State football defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo will join Virginia Tech’s coaching staff as a defensive analyst, per his X account.

Tangelo started his collegiate career at Duke, spending four years in North Carolina. He transferred to Penn State for one year in 2021.

While in Happy Valley, he started 12 games, tallying 29 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble.

Tangelo signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent, but was waived before the 2022 season started. He returned to Penn State, working in an unlisted role with the wide receivers coach.

Now, he will join a handful of former Penn Staters in following James Franklin to Blacksburg.
