Report: Former Penn State Football Safety Dejuan Lane Transfers To Tennessee

Former Penn State football safety Dejuan Lane is transferring to Tennessee, per Matt Zenitz. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Lane was a four-star recruit out of high school in Baltimore in the Class of 2024, ranked as the No. 31 safety and No. 10 player from Maryland, according to the 247Sports Composite. He committed to Penn State in June 2023.

Very few true freshmen burned their redshirt under James Franklin, but Lane got the green light out of the gate, playing in all 16 games in 2024 as a backup safety and special teamer, making 14 tackles and getting his first career interception against Maryland.

2025 saw the sophomore get more snaps in the safety rotation next to veteran Zakee Wheatley, making three starts with 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and a pass defended in 13 games.

Lane initially conveyed his intention to stay with the Nittany Lions for the 2026 season, but elected to enter the transfer portal on January 6 after Penn State added three safeties from Iowa State.
