Report: Former Penn State Football Wide Receiver Matt Outten Transfers To Syracuse

Former Penn State football wide receiver Matt Outten has signed with Syracuse, per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

Outten was a four-star recruit out of Portsmouth, Virginia, in the class of 2025. He was ranked as the No. 12 athlete and No. 5 player in the state of Virginia, according to 247SportsComposite rankings. He initially committed to Virginia Tech in July 2024, but flipped to Penn State in September and enrolled early.

Outten’s speed and athleticism stood out in his recruiting process. He was a state qualifier in the 100 and 200-meter dashes as a sophomore while also doing the high and triple jump. He did not appear in a game as a true freshman, preserving his redshirt before entering the transfer portal.

Outten is the fourth Penn State wideout to find a new home in the transfer portal, joining Aaron Enterline, Kaden Saunders, and Jeff Exinor Jr.
