Penn State Women’s Hockey To Face UConn/Princeton Winner In NCAA Tournament Regional Final

No. 3 seed Penn State women’s hockey will face the winner of the No. 6 seed UConn-No. 9 seed Princeton game in the Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at Pegula Ice Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. The Nittany Lions earned a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament.
UConn finished the regular season with a 27-8-2 record and won its conference championship, Hockey East, over Northeastern. If the Huskies come out victorious over Princeton, it will be the first time since October 2024 that the Nittany Lions will face off against UConn when they split a weekend series.
Princeton finished the regular season with a 23-10-0 record and clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid. If the Tigers beat the Huskies, it will be the first-ever meeting between Penn State and Princeton.
Penn State earned its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance as it beat Mercyhurst in the AHA Championship game and finished with a program-setting record of 32-5-0. This allowed it to earn the right to host an NCAA Regional for the first time in program history with its highest seed in program history.
If the Nittany Lions win the regional final, they will await the winner of the regional final between No. 2 Wisconsin or Quinnipiac/Franklin Pierce in the Frozen Four on Friday, March 20. Due to Pegula Ice Arena holding the hosting rights to this year’s Frozen Four, Penn State will have home-ice advantage throughout the rest of the NCAA Tournament as it looks to win its first-ever NCAA Tournament.
