Penn State Wrestling Cleans Up Session III Of 2026 Big Ten Tournament

Day two of the 2026 Big Ten Tournament is underway, folks.

Two Nittany Lions competed in Session III of the 2026 Big Ten tournament, with Braeden Davis competing for seventh place and Cole Mirasola wrestling in the consolation bracket semifinals. Penn State went 1-1 in the session with the win by Davis. With the Nittany Lion’s victory, all Penn State wrestlers have now qualified for the NCAA Championships later this month.

Consolation Bracket: 7th Place Matches

No. 6 Braeden Davis hit the mat against No. 8 Billy DeKraker of Northwestern for the seventh-place match. Davis came out hot, securing a takedown in the opening seconds. He amassed over 20 seconds of riding time before an escape by DeKraker to make it 3-1 after the first. DeKraker couldn’t manage another escape after starting in the bottom position in the second, and Davis headed into the third with riding time secured. An escape and quick takedown by the Nittany Lion kicked off the final period. Davis stayed on top for the rest of the match to secure the 8-1 win, a seventh-place finish, and an automatic bid to the national tournament.

Consolation Bracket: Semifinals

No. 5 Cole Mirasola took on No. 8 Ben Kueter of Iowa in the consolation semifinals. Mirasola looked poised to score a single-leg takedown in the latter part of the first period, but good defense by Kueter kept the bout scoreless after one. The Hawkeye got on the scoreboard with an escape after starting on bottom to begin the second, but that would be all for scoring in the middle period. Mirasola was unable to escape in the third, and Kueter won the match 2-0.

What’s Next?

The Nittany Lions will have eight wrestlers competing for individual titles, while Cole Mirasola will compete for fifth place later today during session IV, starting at 4:30 in the Bryce Jordan Center. You can watch the session on both the Big Ten Network and Big Ten Plus.
