Applications Open For Next Penn State Blue Sapphire

Have you ever dreamed about kicking off gameday in Beaver Stadium as the Blue Sapphire? Well, you’re in luck! If you think you have what it takes to join the legacy of twirlers, it could be you!

Applications to become Penn State’s next Blue Sapphire are officially underway.

To become the next face of game day, applicants must undergo a two-part process: a virtual submission and an invite-only live audition.

The virtual submission linked above as part of the application requires two video submissions. First, prospects will be asked to share a two to three-minute halftime video showcasing a continuous routine with no cuts, featuring one to four batons.

Second, candidates will be asked to include a three-to-four-minute highlight video that features footage from competitions, performances, marching band shows, or any other elements beyond the ‘halftime video’ submission. The video should include multiple batons, gymnastics, and novelties.

To round out the application process, applicants will be required to provide two letters of recommendation from a high school band director, twirling judge, school twirling coach, or fellow competitor. Along with this, a resume, no more than two pages, that showcases performance experience, training, awards, and leadership.

Once the judging panel has assessed all materials, invitations will be sent to those who have advanced to the second in-person audition round at University Park.

All materials must be submitted no later than March 20 at 11:59 p.m. EST, and auditions will take place on Friday, April 10 at 6 p.m. EST.

The link to apply can be found here.

Good luck, folks!
