Onward State Takes On Medlar Field At Lubrano Park’s First Dollar Dog Night Of The 2026 Season

Hot diggity dog — we are so back!
Dollar Dog Night has once again returned to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for Penn State baseball’s best promotion of the season. Full of glizzys, good times, and hey, even a baseball game, Dollar Dog Nights are a guaranteed good time.
With five Dollar Dog Nights in total, Tuesday night’s game against St. Bonaventure marked the first of an epic lineup scattered throughout the month of April.
We folks at Onward State will never pass up an opportunity to hang out and enjoy some low-payment links, so some of our staff ventured over to third base, had themselves a night, and reflected on their experience.
Peter Williams: Two Hot Dogs
My first Dollar Dog Night was super fun! The hot dogs were good (much better than I expected), but I only got two because I wasn’t very hungry. I also got a tray of French fries, which were great. The lines weren’t too bad either. The only downside was that it was a little colder than I expected.
The game itself was really good too! It was nice to attend and bond with my friends from Onward State. As it was my first time at Medlar Field and first Penn State Baseball game, I’m really looking forward to
coming back for more games and dollar dog nights!
Lyndsay Camp: Four Hot Dogs
As a 5’1″ woman, I’m pretty proud of this number. I started strong and devoured two before the top of the second was even over. By the top of the fifth, all four were eaten. Haven’t been this happy in a while: dogs, baseball, and weather slightly warmer than normal. It wasn’t until the fifth that I started to lose feeling in my hands. As I write this with a tummy ache, I regret nothing. I’m too excited for baseball season to finally be here. The vibes were in the ballpark tonight. Hopefully, more students will be here as the days grow warmer, but I’m pleased with the turnout for tonight. Long live Dollar Dog Night.
Jason Perry: Eight Hot Dogs
I had the privilege of going to Dollar Dog Night when Penn State upset West Virginia last season, and it’s going to take a lot to beat that game. That being said, this Dollar Dog Night was fun, but my main complaint was how cold it was. I’ll definitely be back for a couple more this year. Hopefully, it will be a little warmer out next time.
Ally Eaton: Three Hot Dogs
Who doesn’t love an excuse to have a cheap dinner, a cold beer, and enjoy America’s pastime? I’m thrilled that Dollar Dog Night has returned, and feel lucky to spend it alongside my best friends. Although the hot dogs leave a rock-like feeling in my stomach every time, I will still return again, and again, and again.
Jack Anderson-Jussen: Nine Hot Dogs
Nine dogs in four innings. My goal here was to go for a short and sweet dollar dog night, and I’d say I was successful. Right off the bat, I ordered an ambitious nine dogs, the limit per trip at the concession stand. I immediately got to work and found myself six dogs deep by the bottom of the third inning. The rest was cleanup work. My review? These dogs suck. A significant decrease in quality from last year and the years before it. Maybe if we close more branch campuses, we could afford some better hot dogs?
Julia Romankow: 3.5 Hot Dogs
I ended up eating three and a half hot dogs on my second-ever dollar dog opening night. I was aiming to finish seven, but was starting to feel doubtful by hot dog number three. I think I would’ve definitely been able to eat some more if it were a bit hotter out and felt more like baseball weather. Overall, it was a pretty good game, and I am excited for more Dollar Dog Nights!
Brandon Collica: Nine Hot Dogs
Fun experience, maybe the worst hot dog of my life, but fun to be a part of!
Fernando Martinez: Nine Hot Dogs
It was good to be back for Dollar Dog Night. This time, I decided to challenge myself and see if I could eat nine hot dogs. I started at five, and I felt fine. However, when I went to get four more, it began to become a struggle. I was able to eat all nine hot dogs, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do it.
However, I had a lot of fun. It was nice being with my Onward State friends. Baseball and friends are the best combination. Can’t wait to go back for more Dollar Dog Nights in the future.
CJ Gill: Three Hot Dogs
I only ate a boring three hot dogs at the first Dollar Dog Night of the 2026 season, but I did wash it down with a nice cold Miller Lite. That should count for something. I only stayed for three innings, but I did arrive a little early to beat any long lines at the concessions. After the first pitch, it started to get pretty brisk outside, so I decided to head home, but hopefully, better weather is in store for the rest of the Nittany Lions’ season.
Michael Zeno: 11 Hot Dogs
The issues I had last year on Dollar Dog Night were dog acquisition, a problem I solved this time by going as early as possible. This year, you were able to buy nine hot dogs off the rip, so boom. The dogs tasted absolutely abysmal, but they’re $1.
I decided my strategy this year would be to try to get the hot dogs down early. I ate four before the game started and was done with six by the second inning, which is when I really started to feel it. I got the last three down by the fourth, but I couldn’t stop there with the steep competition this year.
After a few innings off, I went back to get two more. After waiting for 10 minutes after ordering, I finally was able to scarf down the last two while watching Bryce Molinaro hit the go-ahead tank in the seventh. New career high.
