How Former Penn State Men’s Hockey Players Are Doing In The AHL

Three of Penn State men’s hockey’s top players recently announced that they would be hanging up the blue and white sweaters to turn pro.

With each athlete stepping into a different role in their respective NHL franchises, let’s check in on how the AHL guys are doing on their new squads.

Aiden Fink

Aiden Fink has been tearing it up in his first three games with the Milwaukee Admirals, the Nashville Predators’ affiliate. In his second game with the team, he exploded with a four-assist performance and a plus/minus of plus-two. Three days later, he recorded his first professional goal, burying a backhand attempt on the breakaway to bring his team within one. Based on his strong start in the AHL, we could be seeing Fink on Broadway sooner rather than later as the youth movement emerges in Smashville.

Matt DiMarsico

Matt DiMarsico wasn’t drafted by an NHL organization, but he recently turned pro after the Colorado Avalanche signed the winger to an entry-level contract. Like Fink, DiMarsico has also made a solid first impression, tallying three points in as many games. His lone goal thus far went down as the game-winner, scoring in the third period to break a 2-2 tie. Though an incredibly small sample size, he holds a plus/minus of plus-two on the season. Both DiMarsico and Fink are donning No. 81 with their new teams.

Charlie Cerrato

Charlie Cerrato signed a professional tryout contract with the Chicago Wolves, the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes. The 49th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft has not seen any game action yet due to the nature of the contract.

Arsenii Sergeev

After being named an ECHL All-Star, Arsenii Sergeev was called up to the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers on December 13, 2025. The Wranglers represent the affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames. Since the promotion, the goaltender’s stats have taken a dip.

He currently holds a .898 save percentage in the league, down from his ECHL number of .922. He also has a GAA of 3.22, higher than his previous mark of 2.94 with the Rapid City Rush. However, Sergeev did raise the franchise record for saves in a game when he made his AHL debut, stopping a whopping 52 shots.

Despite Sergeev’s overall struggles, Flames fans hope to see him serve as backup to current NHL goalie Dustin Wolf in the future.

Kevin Reidler

Kevin Reidler was drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft by the Ottawa Senators. He recently signed his entry-level contract with the Belleville Senators, the AHL affiliate. He has yet to make his professional debut.
