Former Miami (Ohio) Forward Brant Byers Transfers To Penn State Hoops

Former Miami Ohio small forward Brant Byers has committed to transfer to Penn State men’s basketball, he announced Tuesday.
The Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, native is heading home to suit up for the Nittany Lions. He started his collegiate career playing for the RedHawks in 2024-25 and remained there for his sophomore season. In his first year, he averaged 8.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 49.5% from the field. He was named the MAC Freshman of the Year for his efforts.
In 2025-26, he averaged 14.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 0.6 assists while shooting 47.8% from the field as a key contributor to the RedHawks’ undefeated regular-season squad that also made a March Madness appearance.
Byers joins Central Connecticut State guard Jay Rodgers as Penn State’s portal acquisitions so far.
