Six Penn State Women’s Lacrosse Players Earn Big Ten Honors

Six Penn State women’s lacrosse players earned Big Ten honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Delaney Radin, Maggie Driver, Anna Salerno, Rocquette Allen, and Susannah O’Connell were named to All-Big Ten teams, while Lilly Spilker was the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Junior attack Radin earned an All-Big Ten First Team selection after a career-best season. Radin’s 53 assists this season were the most in the Big Ten and set a single-season program record. Her 79 points were more than quadruple her career total and were the 12th highest in all of Division I women’s lacrosse.

Senior defense Driver joined Radin as an All-Big Ten First Team selection. Driver caused 27 turnovers in her senior season, which is a career-high and third-best in the Big Ten. She also picked up 24 ground balls, which is the second-best on the team.

Graduate midfielder Salerno earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors, which is her third overall All-Conference honor. Offensively, Salerno tallied a point in every game this season besides two and had seven multi-point games. Defensively, she picked up a ground ball in seven games and had five games with turnovers.

Freshman attack Allen unanimously earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Freshman Team in her debut season with Penn State. Allen totaled 41 goals with 22 assists for 63 points, which was the third-best for any Penn State player. Her assists and points total ranked higher than any other Big Ten freshman. Allen was recognized by the Big Ten conference throughout the season, earning the Freshman of the Week award six times, which is the most by any Penn State player in program history.

Freshman defense O’Connell joins Allen on the All-Big Ten Freshman Team after playing in every game during her rookie season. She caused 25 turnovers and had an average of 1.47 caused turnovers per game, which is fourth in the Big Ten and second-most by a Penn Stater this season behind Driver.

Redshirt sophomore defense Spilker was selected as Penn State’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award nominee, marking her second Big Ten honor.

The Nittany Lions will return to action on Wednesday, April 22, and face fourth-seeded Michigan in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament. The game is slated to start at noon and can be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
