Seven Penn State Men’s Volleyball Players Named To All-EIVA Teams

Seven Nittany Lions have earned All-EIVA honors, announced Tuesday by the association.
Sean Harvey – First Team
The redshirt sophomore, who was also named EIVA Player of the Year, leads the EIVA in hitting percentage at .373 and has been named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week four times this season.
Ryan Merk – First Team
The redshirt senior libero also has three EIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors on the season. He leads the EIVA in digs per set at 2.11 and sets on the season with 207.
Owen Rose – First Team
The redshirt senior middle blocker has three EIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors on the season, leading the EIVA in blocks with 142. He holds the record for most blocks in a game with 14 in February against Harvard.
Gaige Gabriel – Second Team
The sophomore middle blocker sits ninth in the EIVA in blocks at 88. He has 124 kills on the season with a season-high ten kills against St. Thomas Aquinas.
Matthew Luoma – Second Team
The redshirt junior outside hitter has 182 kills and 44 blocks on the season. He scored a career-high 23 kills against George Mason in April.
Michael Schwob – Second Team
The junior setter is seventh in the EIVA in assists, with a minimum of five assists per set, with 560. He’s averaging 6.51 assists per set.
Tristan Hassell – Honorable Mention
The true freshman opposite sits in second, behind teammate Harvey, in hitting percentage at .294. He notched a career high of 26 kills against George Mason in April.
This star-studded team will take the court on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall for their semifinal match against Charleston or Sacred Heart in the EIVA Tournament.
