Penn State Pitcher Mason Butash Plans To Enter Transfer Portal

Penn State pitcher Mason Butash plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on June 1, he announced on social media on Monday. He has one year of eligibility remaining, barring the new five-in-five rule being implemented.

The right-handed pitcher made 48 appearances over three seasons with the Nittany Lions, starting 13 times. In 97.1 innings pitched, he gave up 116 hits, 90 runs, and 12 home runs. He also had 81 strikeouts, six sacrifice flies allowed, and 65 walks.

In the field, Butash recorded three putouts, 12 total chances, and 10 caught-stealing bys. He did not hit for the Nittany Lions.

Butash is the fourth Nittany Lion to announce his intentions to enter the transfer portal, joining graduate transfers Nate Voss, Jack Porter, and fellow pitcher Matthew VanOstenbridge.
