Terry Smith Inducted Into Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Hall Of Fame

The accolades continue to roll in for beloved Penn State football associate head coach Terry Smith.
On May 24, Smith was inducted into the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Cumberland Valley High School Performing Arts Center. The award honors Smith’s successful coaching career at Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pennsylvania.
In 10 seasons with Gateway, Smith coached the Gators to an impressive 101-30 record. During that span, he produced over 70 scholarship athletes at the collegiate level. In addition to coaching, Smith also played at Gateway High School, where he led his team to WPIAL titles in 1985 and 1986.
Smith joined Mark Evans and Mike Lippy as part of the 2026 PSFCA Hall of Fame induction class. In his speech, Smith thanked the game of football, Gateway, and Penn State for helping him live out his dream.
“Football has given me far more than I could ever give it back,” he said.
