Penn State Things As Different Beers

A few weeks ago, a graphic of every Big Ten school as a different beer circulated the internet. We wanted to make it Penn State specific.

For a school that consumes a lot of beer, there are a few Penn State landmarks, experiences, and things that deserve beer categories of their own.

Pollock Testing Center: PBR

No one likes it, yet you still drink it. Year after year, you think you’ve survived the last of the testing center, but in your darkest hour (that “easy” gen-ed that everyone told you didn’t have exams), you’ll surely meet again.

Beaver Stadium: Miller Lite

Classic, timeless, and American. There’s nothing better than a Miller Lite in Beaver Stadium on a Saturday, and that’s for a reason.

It truly embodies the Penn State gameday experience and what it feels like to be part of a 110,000-member family.

Canyon Pizza: Natural Light

Questionable, but it gets you through those late nights.

You’ll keep coming back at 2 a.m. for that greasy slice, also known as the cardboard, sticky frat-floor taste of a Natty Light.

Arboretum: Angry Orchard

Crisp, refreshing, and the breath of fresh air that all of us college students need.

Sometimes you need to stray from the tried and true, return to that comforting feeling, and escape the chaos. The Arboretum and an Angry Orchard both give that feeling.

Pattee and Paterno Library: Guinness

A respected choice. You’re drinking a Guinness if you’re serious and mature, just like all of those hours you’re spending at the library studying.

Bonus points if you’re splitting the G in the stacks.

Old Main: Yuengling

An old-school classic, but tradition at its finest.

The landmark of the university, as well as America’s oldest-operating brewing company located right here in Pennsylvania.

HUB: Bud Light

You love it, or you hate it.

The noise and cluster of the HUB isn’t for everyone, but it’s always there for you when you need. You can find a Bud Light everywhere, just like you can find pretty much everything you need inside the HUB.

Berkey Creamery: Blue Moon

A tried and true classic. Something about the Blue Moon packaging even gives off creamery vibes. The creamery is a popular tradition and landmark, especially for alumni who also seem to enjoy a Blue Moon.

Nittany Lion Shrine: Coors Light

Another classic that most Penn State students can’t go without. Everyone poses for photos at the shrine, and a Coors Light is also somehow pictured in any college photo dump.

A Coors is timeless and works in any season, just like the shrine remains a constant pillar within the seasons.
