Penn State Women’s Volleyball Coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley Inducted Into The PVCA Hall Of Fame

Penn State women’s volleyball head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley was inducted into the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, as announced by the team on Tuesday.
After a standout athletic career at Penn State, which included a victory in the women’s volleyball program’s first NCAA National Championship in 1999, Schumacher-Cawley returned to Happy Valley and was named head coach in 2022.
She quickly brought the Nittany Lions to the forefront by winning a National Championship in 2024, while becoming the first female head coach to lead an NCAA Division I women’s volleyball program to a title.
During that season, Schumacher-Crawley inspiringly fought through Stage 2 breast cancer. She could have taken the year off or made the season about her, but instead kept the attention on the team.
“Being around this team and the staff is when I feel most normal,” Schumacher-Cawley said the day before the national semifinal. “For me, being at practice and in the gym with them makes it a whole lot easier.”
In her short tenure as Penn State’s head coach, Schumacher-Cawley has already made a lasting impact on the program, bringing Penn State volleyball back to national dominance. She holds a 103-32 record spanning over four seasons as the Nittany Lions’ head coach.
Schumacher-Cawley joins Juniata College coach Heather Pavlik and Cochranton coach Dan Jackson in the class of 2026.
