Penn State Men’s Hockey Commit Egor Shilov Drafted No. 43 Overall By Colorado Avalanche

The Nittany Lions officially have themselves another NHL talent.
Penn State men’s hockey forward commit Egor Shilov was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche with the No. 43 pick in the second round. The selection marks the second Penn Stater to be picked in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Shilov committed to Guy Gadowsky’s program in May, marking a huge flip for the Nittany Lions. He was originally committed to Boston University but decided to delay his NCAA career by a year, ultimately resulting in the recruiting win for Penn State.
In 63 games played as a center last season with the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, Shilov recorded 82 points on 32 goals and 50 assists. He dazzled throughout the season with two five-point games and was awarded QMJHL Offensive Rookie of the Year for his performances.
The Tyumen, Russia, native also has developmental experience in the USHL, where he played 39 games in 2024-25, tallying 28 points over that span on 11 goals and 17 assists.
Known for his creativity and skill with the puck, Shilov’s hockey IQ will serve the Avalanche well, a team coming off a Western Conference Final appearance.
Shilov will make his Hockey Valley debut this fall, looking to make a big impact as a center on a team that lost Charlie Cerrato and Nic Chin-DeGraves to the AHL and transfer portal, respectively, this offseason.
