Penn State Football Receiving Immense Doubt From MGM Bettors

After a total overhaul of its program, Penn State football finds itself as the most doubted team in college football.
No team has received more tickets betting against its projected win total than the Nittany Lions, who sit at 8.5 projected wins in BetMGM’s book.
Penn State’s line originally opened at 9.5, but, as per Vegas fashion, was bumped down after masses of bets took its under. For context, Ohio State and Michigan also launched at 9.5 wins on FanDuel, with Indiana and Oregon’s lines launching at 10.5 wins.
Currently, Penn State sits at No. 3 on the most-bet win totals, regardless of the tickets’ over or under designation. Colorado and Oklahoma are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
However, the Nittany Lions sit outside the top five in total money bet on their win total, which could be seen as a positive. In fact, 53% of the money bet is in favor of Penn State winning more than 8.5 games, according to On3. Essentially, folks aren’t putting a lot of money on the line against Penn State in 2026, but rather taking the low-hanging fruit of a new coach in a tough conference.
Not that there should be any true attention paid to these doubters, but if Matt Campbell needed any more motivation to make his program’s presence known in 2026, there’s plenty of fuel for that fire.
