Rally House to Open Second State College Area Store

A national retailer of professional and college sports apparel is getting ready to open its second State College area store.
Rally House is planning to open at 1688 N. Atherton St. in the Village Square plaza, according to “coming soon” signs in the windows and listings on the company’s jobs website. The store will be located in parts of the former Fine Wine & Good Spirits location, which moved nearby to 1536 N. Atherton St. in 2025, and the former Hi-Way Pizza, which has consolidated to one location at 1301 W. College Ave.
The company entered the Centre Region market when it acquired Lion & Cub in downtown State College in the spring and rebranded the 206 E. College Ave. store in June, offering Penn State clothing, accessories and collectibles, “with an expanded assortment of officially licensed collegiate apparel, gifts, home décor and locally inspired merchandise,” according to the company.
In a press release at the time, Rally House indicated it already had plans for a second State College area store on North Atherton Street, but did not disclose the specific location. The release said a fall opening was anticipated for the second store.
Rally House is currently hiring for a store manager and assistant manager for the North Atherton Street location.
Leasing agent Metro Commercial Real Estate’s website shows Rally House occupying the central portion of the Village Square building. Two additional storefronts 2,880 square feet and 1,612 square feet remain available.
