Former Penn State Football Wide Receiver Liam Clifford Signs With Indianapolis Colts

Former Penn State football wide receiver Liam Clifford has signed with the Indianapolis Colts ahead of training camp, the team announced on Thursday afternoon.

Clifford participated in Rookie Mini-Camp with the Colts after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. He was not one of 12 undrafted rookies, which included teammate Nolan Rucci, who earned a contract when rookie camp concluded in mid-May, but stayed on their radar and was invited to a workout at the facility ahead of training camp. He beat out NFL veteran Chase Claypool for a roster spot.

The younger brother of Penn State’s all-time leading passer, Sean Clifford, Liam spent six seasons in State College, mostly as a reserve wide receiver and special teams ace. He made 14 starts over his last two seasons, but was unproductive, making just 42 catches for 530 yards and one touchdown across his collegiate career. He recorded just one career 100-yard receiving game against UCLA in 2024.

Clifford will be a long shot for a roster spot, competing with 11 other receivers who will look to make an impact with star receiver Alec Pierce out for an extended period of time due to injury. He’s reunited with former teammates Tyler Warren and the aforementioned Rucci.
