Report: Former Penn State Football Safety Jaylen Reed Traded To New England Patriots

Former Penn State football safety Jaylen Reed has been traded by the Houston Texans to the New England Patriots, according to Adam Schefter.

The Patriots are sending wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Texans in exchange for Reed and a 2028 seventh-round pick.

Reed was drafted by the Texans in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 23-year-old appeared in seven regular-season games during his rookie season, totaling 14 tackles and a fumble recovery. Now he heads to New England to team up with fellow Nittany Lion defender, linebacker Jesse Luketa.

Additionally, Reed becomes the second former Penn State player in the NFL to be traded during training camp, following Caedan Wallace, who was traded from the Patriots to the Miami Dolphins on August 10.
