Penn State Wrestling To Visit Lehigh On December 6
Penn State wrestling’s slow reveal of its 2026-27 non-conference schedule continued on Thursday.
Lehigh revealed that it will continue its longtime in-state rivalry with Penn State on the road in Bethlehem on Sunday, December 6.

This will be the 112th all-time meeting between the Nittany Lions and Mountain Hawks, dating back to 1911. Excluding the 2020-21 season, which restricted schedules due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Penn State and Lehigh will compete for the 82nd consecutive season, dating back to 1934.
In those meetings, Penn State is 74-34-3 and has won the last 14, with Lehigh’s last victory coming in Cael Sanderson’s first dual meet as head coach on November 13, 2009.
While the Nittany Lions are the standardbearer for Pennsylvania wrestling, Lehigh has never been any slouch, routinely finishing ranked in InterMat’s yearly polls and routinely sending wrestlers to the NCAA Tournament.
Last season, after losing 36-6 at Rec Hall on December 6, 2025, they rolled through EIWA play, won big at the EIWA Championships, and placed 16th at the NCAA Championships in March. They sent six wrestlers to Cleveland, headlined by third-place finisher Luke Stanich, along with blood round participants Sheldon Seymour, Max Brignola, and Rylan Rogers.
Stanich will return as the headliner on the 2026-27 Mountain Hawks at 141 pounds and will likely start the season at No. 1 because Jesse Mendez graduated and national champion Sergio Vega of Oklahoma State bumped up a weight.
Could this be a blockbuster early-season dual opportunity for Masanosuke Ono in his first year of folkstyle? We’ll have to wait and see.
Penn State currently has 10 confirmed opponents for 2026-27 so far, but only two dates are known.
The Nittany Lions will host Northern Colorado on Friday, February 19, which is their only other confirmed non-conference bout. The eight opponents they’ll face in Big Ten play are locked in, but dates are to be determined.
