Matt Campbell provided injury updates on Penn State football wide receivers Koby Howard and Brett Eskildsen, tight end Andrew Rappleyea, center Brock Riker, and cornerback Tyler Armstead at his weekly media availability on Tuesday.

Howard got “dinged up” on his 70-yard touchdown reception against Buffalo on Saturday. His availability for the Nittany Lions’ Big Ten opener against Wisconsin is unclear.

Campbell said Eskildsen has been limited over the last two weeks, but he has been productive nonetheless. He did not offer any injury designation for the Iowa State transfer wideout.

Rocco Becht mentioned Eskildsen as a guy he trusts on Saturday if Howard is unavailable.

Riker and Rappleyea both left the Buffalo game early. Campbell said they both got a little “dinged up” after the game, but he took them out of the contest as a precaution. Rappleyea “could’ve went back into the football game.”

Riker was a full-go in practice Tuesday.

Rappleyea did not practice and is “questionable going into this week right now.” The redshirt-junior tight end missed the spring practice period with a lower-body injury.

Armstead, who saw 12 of his 19 total season snaps against the Bulls, also suffered an injury during the game. Campbell said the redshirt sophomore is also questionable heading into the rest of the week.

Penn State will submit its first availability report of the season by 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Under new Big Ten rules, teams have to submit four availability reports per week before a conference matchup. The Nittany Lions will submit daily reports on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and a game-day report on Saturday, which will provide more clarity on Howard’s injury, most of all.
