Standout Penn State football wide receiver Koby Howard’s availability for Saturday is unclear.

The wideout was “dinged up” on his 70-yard touchdown against Buffalo and is now questionable to play in Penn State’s first Big Ten game of the year against Wisconsin on Saturday.

“I think, right now, we probably don’t know exactly where it’ll be by the end of the week,” head coach Matt Campbell said during media availability on Tuesday.

The sophomore from Pensacola, Florida, broke onto the scene this season after spending most of 2025 on the bench per the James Franklin’s decision.

In the season opener against Marshall, Howard exploded for 161 yards on six receptions and found the end zone once. He eclipsed 100 yards again in Penn State’s matchup with Buffalo, scoring a touchdown on a season-long 70-yard completion from Rocco Becht.

Howard quickly asserted himself as the team’s WR1, and his potential absence could leave a gaping hole in the Nittany Lions’ offense.

Chase Sowell, Brett Eskildsen, and Zay Robinson will carry most of the workload moving forward if Howard can’t play against Wisconsin.

However, Campbell said Eskildsen has also been banged up the past few weeks.

Freshman Karon Brookins is a name fans can expect to hear more of as the young wideouts will look to take on an expanded role in the passing game.
