Report: Former Penn State Football Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Traded To Dallas Cowboys

Former Penn State football cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys, according to Jordan Schultz.
Dallas is sending a 2027 sixth-round draft pick and a 2028 second-round draft pick in exchange for Porter, but the Cowboys reportedly aren’t giving him an extension as part of the trade.
The 26-year-old was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, because the Miami Dolphins were charged with tampering and lost their 2023 first-round pick, Porter became the first pick of the second round.
As a result, he did not receive the traditional fifth-year option built into his contract, as all first-round picks do, so he will be an unrestricted free agent in the 2027 offseason.
Porter has been dealing with a back injury that kept him out of much of training camp.
After missing Week 1, Porter was expected to suit up in Week 2, but reportedly suffered an injury setback in practice on September 17 and has not yet played a game for the Steelers this season.
The Bakersfield, California, native spent four years with the Nittany Lions and started 31 games.
He racked up 114 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 20 pass breakups, and one interception.
