Former Penn State Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Mark Pavlik Elected To AVCA Hall Of Fame

Former Penn State men’s volleyball head coach Mark Pavlik has been elected to the AVCA Hall of Fame, the association announced Thursday.
Pavlik announced his retirement earlier this year after 32 seasons at the helm of men’s volleyball. He finished his career with a 716-249 record and an incredible 74% win rate.
He led the Nittany Lions to the NCAA postseason 25 times.
Pavlik’s career highlight at Penn State came in 2008, when the Nittany Lions won the national championship, and Pavlik was named AVCA Coach of the Year.
The 2008 season was one of four in which Pavlik led Penn State to the national championship match. The 11-time EIVA Coach of the Year led Penn State to 26 EIVA championships, most recently in 2026.
While in Happy Valley, Pavlik coached and developed Ivan Contreras and Matt Anderson, both of whom represented the United States at the Olympics.
