Penn State Men’s Hockey’s Justin Larose’s Lacrosse-Style Goal Lands At No. 4 On SportsCenter Top 10

Penn State men’s hockey freshman Justin Larose earned a spot in the SportsCenter Top 10 following his lacrosse-style goal in Saturday night’s game against Sacred Heart.

With Penn State trailing 3-1 early in the third period, Larose collected the puck behind the net, lifted it on his stick, and tucked it over the shoulder of Sacred Heart goaltender Ajeet Gundarah.

The highlight-reel play marked Larose’s first collegiate goal in just his second game as a Nittany Lion. He also recorded an assist in the period, making it his first multi-point collegiate game.

Larose isn’t the first Penn Stater to pull off the lacrosse-style goal. In 2018, Evan Barrat scored a similar lacrosse-style goal against Arizona State, which earned the No. 2 spot on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays.

Despite tying the game at 3-3 later in the period, Penn State eventually fell 6-3 to Sacred Heart, dropping to 0-2 on the season.

The Nittany Lions return to Pegula Ice Arena for their home opener against Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 16.
