Shanghai Ballet Set To Perform ‘Giselle’ At Eisenhower Auditorium

Find love, tragedy, and ghosts at Penn State in November.
For the first time in over five years, Shanghai Ballet will return to North America, stopping at Penn State to perform “Giselle.”
The event, led by artistic director Xin Lili, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, in Eisenhower Auditorium.
“Giselle” premiered in 1841 and has since become one of the most beloved ballets, telling a story of tragedy and romance. Shanghai Ballet, a leading Chinese ballet company, combines technique and vivid storytelling to bring the performance together.
The ballet tells the story of Giselle, a young peasant girl, who falls in love with a nobleman disguised as a charming villager. What follows is a haunting tale that explores themes of love, betrayal, and grief.
Tickets are $60 for adults, $14 for University Park students, and $19 for guests aged 18 and younger.
