CATA Proposes Service Adjustments To Five Routes

On Monday, the Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) announced its plans to adjust the service on five routes in State College and on campus.
If approved, the proposed changes would start on January 11 and are intended to help CATA deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable service amid a national driver shortage.
The proposed service adjustments are as follows:
- Atherton Street (AC) – Reduce service frequency Monday through Thursday to every 45 minutes and end service Monday through Saturday at 8 p.m.
- College Ave. (CC) – Reduce Sunday service to every 60 minutes, end service on Sunday at 10 p.m., and end service to Lemont/Havershire/Science Park at 8 p.m.
- Havershire/Martin/Vairo/Toftrees (NV) – End service on Sunday at 10 p.m.
- Waupelani Drive/Downtown (RP) – End service on Sunday at 10 p.m.
- University/Parkway Circulator (UP) – All service suspended
As of now, no adjustments are scheduled for any of the three campus buses, the Red Link, White Loop, and Blue Loop.
An in-person public hearing is scheduled for November 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the State College Borough Building, where the public can voice their opinion.
Folks who want to voice their opinion on the proposed changes can do so on the CATA website here.
